- DiscussionHi everybody, I'm curious about your feedback on a little writing guide I'm putting together for my IELTS students. My impression from looking at past sample tests is that there are basically 4 types of essay questions for Task 2: - Comparison questions ("discuss both views") - Opinion questions ("do you agree or disagree") - Problem/Solution ("what are the causes? what should be done?") - Advantage/Disadvantage (pros/cons, benefits/drawbacks) Are there any other important question types missing from this list? And on a related note, do you think it's important for candidates to grasp these distinctions? In IELTS prep classes I've taught, I go back and forth on how much time to spend on this step in the pre-writing process. I look forward to your feedback!1
